Pat Cummins Fitness Update: Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad have a mixed bag of updates to begin their Indian Premier League season. The franchise's regular captain, Pat Cummins, is set to join the camp soon but will not lead the side due to fitness concerns.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Cummins is expected to arrive in India on March 24, 2026, with the team entering its final phase of preparations. However, the Australian fast bowler is currently recovering from a back injury and is likely to miss the early part of the tournament.

He will continue his rehabilitation under the supervision of the franchise's medical staff, with the management opting for a careful approach to ensure he returns only when fully fit.

Ishan Kishan To Lead In The Absence Of Cummins

With Pat Cummins unavailable, Ishan Kishan is expected to take charge as interim captain for the opening 5-6 matches of the season. He will also represent Sunrisers Hyderabad at the captains' meeting in Mumbai on March 25, highlighting the team management's trust in his leadership during the initial phase.

The leadership switch comes at a key juncture, with SRH set to begin their campaign against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 28 at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

SLC Gives NOC To Eshan Malinga

In a further boost for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sri Lankan fast bowler Eshan Malinga has been granted his No Objection Certificate (NOC) by Sri Lanka Cricket, allowing him to feature in IPL 2026. The 25-year-old pacer is set to arrive in Hyderabad on March 24 and join the squad as they gear up for the season.

His inclusion is expected to bolster SRH's pace unit, and he will reunite with fellow Sri Lankan all-rounder Kamindu Mendis, who had earlier received clearance to participate in the tournament.
