Punjab Kings roared back in winning ways as they secured a fantastic victory over Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 clash on Tuesday (April 8).
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, PBKS amassed a formidable total of 219 for 6 in their 20 overs. This commanding score was largely due to a sensational innings by 24-year-old Priyansh Arya, who scored 103 runs off just 42 balls, reaching his century in a mere 39 deliveries.

This achievement marked the joint fourth-fastest century in IPL history and the fastest by an uncapped player. Arya's aggressive batting included seven boundaries and nine sixes, propelling PBKS from a precarious position of 83 for 5 to a dominant total. He found support in Shashank Singh, who contributed an unbeaten 52 off 36 balls, and Marco Jansen, who added a quick 34 off 19 balls.
In response, CSK's chase was anchored by Devon Conway's 69 runs. Despite his efforts and a late cameo from MS Dhoni, who scored 27 off 12 balls, CSK fell short, finishing at 201 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. This result marked CSK's fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament.
Priyansh Arya's remarkable performance not only secured a crucial win for PBKS but also etched his name into the annals of IPL history with his record-breaking century.
Priyansh Arya played a scintillating knock in Mullanpur but Chennai Super Kings was in the run chase for the first half of their innings. They were scoring decently and looked on course at one stage. At the end of 14 overs, CSK were 139 for 2 and needed 81 runs in their last six overs.
But the CSK batting slump came in the next three overs, where they only managed 22 runs. Shivam Dube also lost his wicket and that further arrested their scoring rate. Arshdeep Singh bowled a fantastic 15th over and conceded only 6 runs, while Lockie Ferguson back that up with a superb 16th over, conceding 7 runs and casting Dube. In the 17th, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled his solitary over of the match and conceded just 9 runs.
When they needed at about 17 runs per over, CSK only managed at 7 runs in those three overs and that completely shifted the match to Punjab's favour.
