Two fellow strugglers from last season will be locking horns as Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders take on each other on Saturday (April 1) in the IPL 2023.
The Knight Riders finished 7th last season, while Punjab again failed to reach the playoffs and could only manage the 6th position. As they take the field ahead of a brand new season, both teams will have high hopes to resurrect their fortunes in the tournament.

Knight Riders won the IPL back in 2014, same season the Kings were the beaten finalists, which is their solitary appearance in the IPL final. Punjab Kings will be hosting the match at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali and are playing in front of their home crowd for the first time since 2019.
Both teams have seen changes in captaincy personnel. PBKS went on with Shikhar Dhawan after the departure of Mayank Agarwal, while KKR have appointed Nitish Rana as captain due to Shreyas Iyer's injury.

Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders Team News Punjab Kings will be missing Kagiso Rabada for their first match against KKR. Jonny Bairstow was replaced by Matthew Short and the Aussie will be available for the match. Liam Livingstone is also coming back from an injury issue and may miss the first couple of games.
For KKR, captain Shreyas Iyer is out with a back injury and Nitish Rana will lead the team for the foreseeable period. Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das won't be available in the first match due to national duty against Ireland. Lockie Ferguson is doubtful for the first couple of matches but he has already joined the squad.

KKR, who finished 7th in the IPL last season, have a fantastic record over Punjab Kings in the IPL. The Knights have won 20 out of their 30 matches against the Kings across the years. The
