Lucknow Super Giants go level on points with Rajasthan Royals at the top after a fantastic victory over Punjab Kings on Friday (April 28) at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

LSG won the match against PBKS by 56 runs and are 2nd in the IPL table. Punjab have failed to continue their winning momentum and stay 6th in the league table. LSG will face RCB in the next match and PBKS play CSK in their next encounter.

PBKS vs LSG

Punjab put Lucknow into bat and after a stupendous batting display, LSG scored 257/5 in their 20 overs, which is the highest total in this year's IPL. Kyle Mayers (54 off 24), Marcus Stoinis (72 off 40) were outstanding with the bat, and Nicholas Pooran (45 off 19) also played a blazing knock.

In reply, Punjab Kings fought hard and chased the target valiantly. Atharva Taide (66 off 36) played a magnificent knock to keep the innings together. Sikander Raza (36 off 22), Liam Livingstone (23 off 11) also played brilliant cameos but none could go on to score big for them.

The PBKS inning never threatened the run chase and they were bundled out for 201 runs. Yash Thakur (4/37) and Naveen ul Haq (3/30) were the stars with the ball for the Super Giants.

PBKS vs LSG IPL 2023: Who Said What

Shikhar Dhawan (PBKS Captain): "We gave too many runs away and we paid the price. The strategy to play with one extra fast bowler backfired whereas KL used an extra spinner. It's a good learning for me and we will come back stronger.

There was no particular reason to hold Shahrukh Khan back till late. We kept it like that only as Sam and Livingstone were hitting well."

KL Rahul (LSG Captain): "It's something we have done right (to bat 1st and win). Happy with the win. The last game was a bit of a downer and everybody got some time off. We came back fresher and we've always been clear on how we want to bat. When it comes to wickets like this, you get excited as a batter.

Getting 250 speaks very highly of our batting. It helps to be familiar with conditions. But cricket is such a game where pitch can surprise you and the way we started opened up everything and set the tone.

(batting order change)" It was a bit pre-planned. We have some power hitters and Ayush, and Deepak are also there. We just try to use players according to the situation and what's best for the team. The think tank spends most of the time with it and I also spend some time with them."

Marcus Stoinis (Player of the Match): (On the injured Finger) "It's alright. We will get a scan later.

"We were having a joke about how the pitch is different from our home. Me and Ayush (Badoni) wanted to get a partnership and wanted to keep building on our batting. I do enjoy the responsibility and batting a bit lower, see the game home. My journey has been doing everything, and I am happy to do whatever helps my team.

"I was swinging the ball the other day and the bowling coach got excited. I opened the bowling but I will leave that to the frontliners." (on opening the bowling)
