Mumbai Indians star batter Rohit Sharma has become the 2nd player after Mahendra Singh Dhoni to play 250 IPL matches when he took the field to face Punjab Kings in match 33 of IPL 2024 at the new PCA Stadium in Mullanur on Thursday (April 18).
In 249 IPL matches, the former MI skipper Rohit had scored 6472 runs at an average of 30.10 and a strike rate of 131.22. The 36-year-old, who began his IPL career in 2008 with Deccan Chargers, has won a record six IPL titles - five of them as captain of MI.

The Indian skipper has also scored 2 hundreds and 42 half-centuries in his IPL career with one of those two centuries coming in the last match, when h scored an unbeaten 105 in Mumbai Indians' 20-run loss to Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 14.
Earlier this season, Rohit achieved another landmark for appearances as he became the first player to play 200 matches for Mumbai Indians. Now, he joins Dhoni in another unique list for most matches played overall in IPL. Here is a look at the list:
After Rohit, at least two other players, who have been part to the lucrative leage since it's inception in 2008, Dinesh Karthik and Virat Kohli are also likely to complete the milestone of 250 matches in IPL by the end of the ongoing season.
Karthik is all set to become the third player to achieve the feat when Royal Challengers Bengaluru take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday (April 21).
