PBKS vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a commanding 7-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 37th match of IPL 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
A collective bowling effort and a stellar half-century from Virat Kohli helped RCB chase down 158 with ease, but it was Punjab's middle-order collapse that proved to be the game's decisive turning point.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl, RCB's strategy paid off early as Krunal Pandya removed both openers - Priyansh Arya (22 off 15) and Prabhsimran (33 off 17) - just as they were looking to build momentum. However, it was the failure of the middle order that truly derailed Punjab's innings.
Captain Shreyas Iyer (6) fell cheaply trying to take on Romario Shepherd, and Nehal Wadhera (5) was run out in a horrible mix-up. Josh Inglis (29 off 17) offered some resistance but couldn't convert his start, becoming one of Suyash Sharma's two victims. Marcus Stoinis (1) departed soon after, as PBKS lost 4 wickets for just 46 runs between the 7th and 14th overs, slipping from 68/2 to 114/6.
Despite a late push from Shashank Singh (31* off 33) and Marco Jansen (25* off 20), PBKS could only post a modest 157/6 in their 20 overs. Krunal Pandya (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26) were particularly effective in the middle overs, stifling Punjab's scoring rate and triggering the collapse.
In reply, RCB began with a minor hiccup, losing Philip Salt for a duck in the very first over. But from there, it was a masterclass in controlled aggression by Virat Kohli, who anchored the chase with an unbeaten 73 off 54 balls. He stitched vital partnerships with Devdutt Padikkal (61 off 35) and later with Rajat Patidar (12) to ensure there were no further hiccups.
The finishing touches came courtesy of Jitesh Sharma, whose 11* off 8 balls sealed the chase in the 19th over. RCB ended at 159/3 in 18.5 overs, completing a thoroughly professional performance.
Punjab's innings unraveled quickly after the top-order gave them a platform. The middle-order meltdown - losing four wickets in a span of 6 overs - not only halted their momentum but left the tail with too much to do. That collapse allowed RCB's bowlers to tighten the screws, keeping PBKS well below par.
With this win, RCB not only gained two crucial points but also improved their net run rate. Meanwhile, PBKS will need to regroup quickly and find answers to their batting woes if they are to stay in playoff contention.
