By MyKhel Staff

In a commanding display, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their place in the IPL 2025 Final by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by eight wickets in Qualifier 1 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium, Mullanpur.

Opting to bowl first, RCB's decision proved fruitful as they dismissed PBKS for a paltry 101 runs in 14.1 overs. RCB then chased down the target in just 10 overs, with Phil Salt leading the charge with an unbeaten half-century.

PBKS vs RCB Turning Point: Punjab Kings' Disastrous Batting Collapse

The match's decisive moment was undoubtedly PBKS's catastrophic batting performance. From the outset, RCB's bowlers applied relentless pressure. Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal set the tone by claiming two wickets each, disrupting PBKS's top order. Spinner Suyash Sharma then delivered a game-changing over, taking three wickets and leaving PBKS reeling.

Key batters, including Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Josh Inglis, Shreyas Iyer, and Marcus Stoinis, failed to make significant contributions, leading to a total collapse. Iyer and Prabhsimran, two of Punjab's pillars were abysmal and gifted their wickets with some awful shots as well.

This batting debacle ranks among the lowest totals in IPL playoff history and highlighted PBKS's inability to handle high-pressure situations. The team's lack of resilience and adaptability was evident, as they will have to win Qualifier 2 now to face RCB in the final.

Chasing a modest target, RCB's openers provided a solid foundation. Despite losing a couple of wickets, the team maintained a steady run rate. Salt anchored the innings with an unbeaten half-century, guiding RCB to victory in just 10 overs.
