PBKS vs RR Awards List: Rajasthan Royals breached the Punjab Kings wall as they inflicted the first defeat on the Kings on Saturday (April 5).
The Mullanpur Stadium witnessed a dominant performance from the Royals as they won the match by 50 runs.

RR piled on a commanding 205/4 in 20 overs after batting first. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the standout performer, anchoring the innings with a fluent 67 off 45 balls, peppered with three fours and five sixes. He got solid support from skipper Sanju Samson, who chipped in with a lively 38 from 26 deliveries.
The finishing touches came courtesy of Riyan Parag, whose unbeaten 43 helped RR breach the 200-run mark and put the pressure squarely on Punjab.
Chasing a stiff target, PBKS had a disastrous start, thanks to Jofra Archer's fiery opening over. The speedster struck twice, removing Priyansh Arya for a duck and castling captain Shreyas Iyer for just 10, leaving Punjab rattled at 16/2.
Nehal Wadhera tried to revive the innings with a fighting 62, but regular wickets at the other end, especially from Maheesh Theekshana, stifled any momentum. The Sri Lankan spinner played a key role in breaking partnerships, including the dismissal of Marco Jansen and picked up two wickets.
Punjab never recovered from the early blows and eventually fell short of the target by 50 runs as Rajasthan registered consecutive wins.
Shreyas Iyer (PBKS Captain): I thought that we would be conceding around 180-185 - that would have been a great total to chase. We gave away a few extra runs, were not able to execute according to our plans. Glad that it (the defeat) happened at the start of the season. It was a decent pitch to bat on, it was holding a bit. Many things to learn from this game. Today there was no dew. We cannot be blaming that. We need to go back to the drawing board and see the videos of where we were not able to execute with the bowling. In the batting, we could be focusing on building partnerships. We also lost back-to-back wickets. It is not easy for a new batter to get going. (On Nehal Wadhera) Phenomenal batting under pressure. He took some time, he was able to analyze and was able to charge on the loose balls. This is just the third match, you need a slight hiccup at the start to wake you up and glad that it happened right now.
Sanju Samson (RR Captain): The way we started in the powerplay, we thought we were running a bit short but the quality of the batters we have got, 205 was a very good score on the board. Very young batting lineup, very young in age but they have played a lot of games for the country. They are managing and playing the game very well. (on Archer and Sandeep) That's a very deadly combo,. one guy bowling at 150 and one guy at 115. (on being told Sandeep hit 130kph) Oh did he? we should cut a cake on that. I can trust them a bit more with the pressure overs. (on Archer) We all love it when he bowls fast. Doing it for me in the last 4 years, he is one of the best guys in India right now bowling fast. We did have a small meeting in the timeout and I suggested they are a quality side and we can't take it easy. Till the last ball is bowled, we can't guarantee a win. We focused on the process and the result took care of itself. We took our time to find out what the best combination and lineups and orders are, injuries we have to take care as this is a long tournament.
