Shikhar Dhawan will be aiming to continue his IPL 2024 upsurge with a decent batting performance against Rajasthan Royals.
Punjab Kings host the Royals on Saturday at the Mullanpur Stadium and the home team aim to get back to winning ways after their narrow defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last match.

Punjab's captain Shikhar Dhawan is the main pillar of their batting unit. The veteran has performed decently so far, with 152 runs in five innings. Dhawan has looked in fine touch so far but would love to score big again after two low scores in the last two matches.
The southpaw scored 1 against Gujarat Titans and then scored 14 in the last match against the Hyderabad outfit. The 38-year-old's contribution with the bat has always proved crucial and it is the same for the Kings this season as well.
Although uncapped Indian players like Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have stepped up with important contributions, Dhawan's role at the top of the order can't be undermined.
As Punjab play Rajasthan on Saturday, Dhawan's role will be crucial. Rajasthan have been one of the most in-form bowling units this season. Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal have weaved their magic with the ball as they sit at the top of the table. And the veteran batter will have to showcase his class against the elite bowling lineup.
Shikhar Dhawan has a pretty good record against Rajasthan Royals in IPL over the years. The batter has amassed 679 in 24 innings against RR, with an average excess of 32. He has scored 7 fifties against the Royals in IPL, with the highest score being 86 which came in Punjab Kings colours last year.
Out of the last 12 innings against Rajasthan, Dhawan has notched up five fifties. But interestingly, all of the other seven knocks are below 20 runs. The PBKS captain also scores heavily when chasing against the Royals, as he boasts an average of 57.75 when chasing with three fifties in just six innings.
