Punjab Kings will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Match 23 of IPL 2024 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Tuesday (April 9).
Both of the teams have played four matches each so far this season and won two of them. These two franchises had met 21 times in the past and SRH outplayed Punjab by a winning ratio of 14 to 7. In their last face-off, SRH beat Punjab by 8 wickets.

PBKS have a pacer-heavy bowling unit and lacks experienced spinners. Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Sam Curran, Rahul Chahar, Harshal Patel and Harpreet Brat will be mostly relied upon. All the regular bowlers are getting wickets but till now their performances are not up to the mark. In this match, they will be looking to turn it around.
SRH also have a pace-heavy bowling unit just like their opponent. Star players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins, T. Natarajan, and Jayadev Unadkat are part of SRH's pace battery. Their spin department will be dependent on Washington Sundar and Mayank Markande as Wanindu Hasaranga will be absent for the season.
PBKS vs SRH IPL 2024: Who will get Maximum Wickets?
Kagiso Rabada (PBKS): The South African fast bowler is currently the highest wicket-taker of the Punjab sides with 6 wickets in 4 matches. Rabada also has 112 wickets in IPL in just 73 matches. He will play a very instrumental role against SRH in the powerplay overs.
Harshal Patel (PBKS): The 34-year-old Indian fast bowler has played 95 matches in IPL and Scalped 115 wickets with a decent economy rate. In this season he bagged 4 wickets in four matches. In the last match at this venue, Patel scalped batters like David Warner and Rishabh Pant. As the Kings are returning to their home after two weeks, a similar performance from him will be deadly for the visitors.
Pat Cummins (SRH): With five wickets in four games at an economy rate of 7.75, the SRH-skipper is leading the team’s wicket tally. Currently, the Australian fast bowler's IPL career stands at 50 wickets. Injury remains a frequent issue in his career. If he stays fit for the entire season, some outstanding performances can be anticipated from him.
T. Natarajan (SRH): After starting the season with 3 wickets in the first match he had to miss the next two for some minor injury. But the left-arm medium pacer returned in the match against CSK and bagged one wicket, making his total wicket-tally to 52. If Natarajan can continue with this form, he will certainly create problems for Punjab batters in the early overs of the innings.
Both franchises have won their last matches and failed to maintain consistency so far. The ground will be expected to be batting-friendly and with all the big hitters both teams have, another high-score thriller can be expected.
