Nasir Jamshed banned for failing to co-operate with PCB anti-corruption unit

Karachi, Dec 11: Former international opener Nasir Jamshed has been handed a one-year ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for failing to co-operate with its anti-corruption unit.

Jamshed, who has represented Pakistan in two Tests, 48 one-day internationals and 18 Twenty20s, was charged with breaches of the PCB's anti-corruption code in April, as part of an investigation into allegations of corruption in the 2017 Pakistan Super League.

On Monday, the PCB confirmed it had imposed a ban on the 28-year-old and also stated further charges would follow.

A tweet from the PCB's media department, retweeted by the PCB's official account, read: "Update: Anti Corruption Tribunal has imposed a one-year ban on cricketer Nasir Jamshed for non-co-operation (sic) with PCB ACU, more charges will be brought up in near future."

In June, Jamshed vehemently denied any involvement in spot-fixing, telling ESPNCricinfo: "I laughed out loud when I saw details of their [the PCB's] evidence against me. It's so flimsy. It's ridiculous."

Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif received five-year bans earlier this year for their involvement in the spot-fixing scandal.
