Karachi, Aug 13 : PCB's chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed has reportedly denied the reports of spat between the Pakistan cricket coach Geoff Lawson and national selectors which had led to Lawson flying back to his home country Australia in a huff.

Ahmed said that there were no discrepancies between the coach and the selectors over the choice of fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

Media reports have over the past couple of days suggested that an angry Lawson had left his meeting with the national selectors at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Monday and his return to native Australia added fuel to the fire.

But, denying such reports, chief coach Salahuddin Ahmed said there was no spat and that the meeting with the coach was by no means stormy as suggested by reports aired by a few TV channels.

"It was a routine meeting. We normally meet with the captain and coach before naming the national team," The News quoted Salahuddin as saying.

According to the reports, Lawson was unsure about the fitness of the experienced duo - Shoaib and Afridi - but the national selection committee was convinced that both the players were fully fit to play in next month's ICC Champions Trophy.

Salahuddin admitted that there was a difference of opinion over a few selections but was quick to add that it was "normal". "Obviously there can be different views over team matters. Lawson left the meeting early because he had to catch a flight," he said.
