PCB demands 'doubled' package as women's team sponsorship rights

By Super Admin

Karachi, Mar.1 (ANI): Suffering from huge financial crunch, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now sought to sell the sponsorship rights for World Cup-bound Pakistan women's cricket team on double the amount it is being offered currently.

According to The Nation, the PCB has asked a multinational oil marketing company to double its bid if it wants to sponsor the women's team.

The company had offered an undisclosed amount for the two year term sponsorship, but the PCB rejected the offer.

The PCB hoped to cash-in on the opportunity and revive its depleted bank accounts, but the deal between the two sides broke hours before they were scheduled to sign an agreement, sources said.

The ICC Women's World Cup 2009 will commence from March 5.

India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, England, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia are the other participating nation. (ANI)
