PCB honours Dar for breaking the jinx after 20 years

Lahore, Apr 27 (UNI) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has felicitated umpire Aleem Dar for becoming the second umpire from the nation to officiate in the World Cup final.

Dar broke the 20-year deadlock after former ICC umpire Mahboob Shah became the first Pakistani to officiate in the final of the 1987 edition of the mega event in Kolkata.

The Dawn quoted a PCB spokesman as saying that Dar's nomination was a mere recognition of his remarkable skills as one of the best umpires of modern day cricket in the world.

The 38-year-old Dar, who started his umpiring career seven years back at the age of 32, had been elavated to the ICC Elite Panel just within two years of his debut as One-day International umpire which consists of only nine top umpires from the cricketing world.
