PCB makes huge threat if India refuses to visit Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025

By MyKhel Staff

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is adamant about hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 entirely within Pakistan. They are not considering any hybrid model for the event.

Reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declined to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI is likely to request the International Cricket Council (ICC) to implement a hybrid model, allowing India to play its matches in a different country.

Pakistan may boycott T20 World Cup 2026 in India

If India refuses to travel to Pakistan, the PCB might boycott the 2026 World Cup scheduled in India. This potential boycott stems from ongoing political tensions between the two nations.

India's last visit to Pakistan was in 2008 for the Asia Cup. Since then, political issues have prevented any further tours by the Indian cricket team to Pakistan.

Previous Hybrid Model

A similar situation arose during the Asia Cup 2023 when BCCI refused to play in Pakistan. The ICC suggested a hybrid model, which both parties accepted. However, this arrangement led to Pakistan missing out on hosting the semi-final and final matches of that tournament.

The PCB's firm stance on hosting the entire Champions Trophy within their borders highlights their commitment to bringing international cricket back to Pakistan. They are unwilling to compromise on this matter despite India's reluctance.

The ongoing tension between India and Pakistan continues to affect cricketing events involving both countries. The PCB's decision could lead to significant changes in how future tournaments are organised if no agreement is reached.

Both cricket boards remain at an impasse, with neither side willing to budge on their respective positions. This deadlock could impact not only bilateral series but also major ICC events involving these two cricketing giants. There has also been speculation that Sri Lanka will replace India in the Champions Trophy if they refuse to visit Pakistan.
