Another disaster has struck Pakistan cricket as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) postponed the U19 competition due to age fraud and biased selection.
PCB has postponed the U19 national junior championships due to unavoidable circumstances. This decision came just a day after the three-day games had started at various venues on Tuesday (September 10).

The PCB had invested millions in establishing 18 regional teams for the tournament. The three-day games began as planned, but after the first day's play, teams were informed that the tournament would not continue as scheduled. A press statement from PCB cited unavoidable circumstances but did not provide specific details.
A source close to the board disclosed that numerous complaints about age fraud and biased selection were major factors in the decision to postpone. The source mentioned that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi was committed to ensuring transparency in team selections, involving regional coaches and board representatives equally in the process.
Despite these efforts, Naqvi received several complaints about players manipulating age documents, which led to his disheartenment and subsequent decision to halt the tournament. The board had also spent substantial amounts on setting up camps, providing accommodation, food, travel allowances, kit bags, and basic facilities for players.
The PCB's recent actions have drawn significant criticism, especially since Mohsin Naqvi took over leadership. The board's policies and declining standards have been under constant scrutiny. Amidst backlash over the Champions One-Day Cup scheduling, this latest postponement adds to the growing list of issues.
Selection bias and unjust selections have been an ongoing issue for Pakistan cricket, stemming from the top. Former Pakistan players often criticize selectors for biased player selections, most recently which stormed during the T20 World Cup.
