PCB promises to credit bank accounts of each player with this amount if Pakistan win T20 World Cup 2024

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday announced that each of the 15 Pakistan players will get a cash prize of PKR 2.77 crore if they win the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies.

Pakistan are yet to announce their squad for the mega event, but it will more or less be the same they named for their tour of Ireland and England on Wednesday.

According to the PCB, Naqvi made the announcement as he arrived at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team started the national camp on Saturday at the stadium.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), the PCB informed that Mohsin Naqvi met both players and officials during his visit. “The PCB chairman stayed with the players for two hours,” the board said.

Naqvi suggested the players play pressure-free cricket, and play as a unit. He added that the eyes of the nation would be on them as they hustle hard to bring the cup back home.

“Don’t care about anyone. Only play for Pakistan. Demonstrate teamwork on the field [and] God willing, victory will be yours. The country has a lot of expectations from you. You have to fulfil them” he said as quoted by the Dawn. He also backed star pacer Shaheen Afridi to deliver on the big stage.

Mohsin Naqvi gave a special green shirt to Mohammad Rizwan and Naseem Shah. Rizwan recently completed 3000 runs in T20I cricket, while Shah picked his 100th wicket in the T20 format.

Naqvi also hosted a lunch for the players and officials at a local hotel in Lahore. Pakistan are scheduled to leave for the T20I tours to Ireland and England later this month. The series against Ireland starts from May 10. Pakistan will play their first match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against USA on June 6.
