PCB signs deal with Dubai Sports City

Lahore, Sep 24 (UNI) After refusals from several teams to tour Pakistan, the PCB has signed a three-year deal with the Dubai Sports City to play various tournaments in the United Arab Emirates.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Gadaffi Stadium, Shafqat Naghmi, Chief Operating Officer of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said, ''Under the recently signed contract, the Pakistan team will play different events at the offshore venue for three years after completion of Dubai Cricket Stadium next year.'' Nagmi said a tri-nation tournament involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be played two months later in the stadium, which is likely to be completed in February 2009. ''The next two years' programme in Dubai also includes the Twenty20 tournaments,'' he stated.

''It is a lucrative contract which will help in overcoming the loss after postponement of the Champions Trophy. Through this deal, we will be generating enough funds besides having a definite programme for our team's participation in international cricket,'' Nagmi added.
