PCB to announce verdict on Akhtar and Kaneria on March 8

By Staff

Lahore, Feb 26 (UNI) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce it's verdict on maverick fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and leg-spinner Danish Kaneria for their recent outburst against the board on March 8.

Both the bowlers have been accused of criticising the PCB in the media and a final decision is expected to be taken in the board's next meeting scheduled to held next month.

''The cases of Shoaib and Kaneria are now with the board's disciplinary committee which will take a decision before the PCB governing board meeting scheduled for March 8,'' PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf told the Dawn.

Shoaib Akhtar had slammed the governing body for questioning his fitness time and again, particularly during last year's tour to India.

Kaneria later criticised PCB for demoting him to Grade C in the new central contract system in which many junior players were offered higher grades than him.

The PCB later issued notices to the two bowlers seeking clarification on their comments and both the players have responded with their explanations.

However, the disciplinary committee will consider the duo's clarifications before they declare the final outcome on March 8.
