PCB to consult players before finalising contract system
Karachi, May 27 (UNI) After studying the contract systems in Australia, England and India, the Pakistan Cricket Board said it would consult the players before finalising a new 'performance based' central contract system for them.
''The central contract system is aimed at paying the players so it is important that we share their opinion on the issue before finalising the structure,'' PCB's Marketing and Media Director, Dr Ahsan Hameed Malik told 'The News'.
Malik said PCB officials have studied players' contract systems in use in Australia, England and India and have come up with a ''rough draft'' of the new central contract system.
This performance-based pay stucture would be submitted after some more additions to the Board's ad-hoc committee when it meets in Lahore on June 16, he said.
Malik informed that a meeting would take place between the top Board officials and players in Lahore next month, adding that the contract is likely to be put in place from July 1.
Pakistan had suspended all central contracts of their players after the team's shameful first round exit from the Caribbean World Cup. The Board had announced that a new contracts system would be in place within the next 90 days which will be based on performance rather seniority as has been the practice in the past.
