PCB to hold inquiry into Salahuddin's resignation

By Staff

Lahore, Oct 10 (UNI) After the resignation of chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed over changes in the team for the four-nation T20 tournament without his consent, Pakistan Cricket Borad (PCB) chairman Ijaj Batt today ordered an inquiry into the whole issue.

''I believe the selectors need to work independently and no one has the right to change the selected team without taking their consent,'' Butt said.

The newly appointed head of the PCB also stated that the board had written to the sports ministry asking if they had made any changes and was also investigating if someone from the board itself did this.

Salahuddin claimed that the selection committee has picked Saeed Ajmal but later without his consent the spinner was replaced by batsman Shoaib Khan.

After the selection, the team list was sent to the sports ministry for their approval before it was announced by the board. Salahuddin claims the change was made unilaterlly and in protest he resigned from his post.

However, according to sources a senior PCB official might be involved in making the change without the selector consent.
