PCB chief wants Younis Khan to be part of Pak's Australia tour team

By Super Admin

Islamabad, Nov. 23 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt has said that he would like to see out-of-form Younus Khan as part of the Pakistani squad touring Australia next month.

The Pakistani captain had pulled out of the ongoing New Zealand tour earlier this month due to poor form, and the PCB subsequently appointed Mohammad Yousuf as the stand-in skipper for the series.

"I can't say whether it will be as captain or just a senior player but I definitely want him to play in Australia." the Daily Times quoted Butt, as saying.

However, Butt made it clear that a final call on Khan's return rests with the national selectors.

"I am not one to interfere in the selectors domain. They are the ones who must decide on the team for the tour to Australia," Butt said.

He also quashed speculations that Khan's career could be over if Pakistan did well in New Zealand without him.

"I think that is rubbish because Younus to my mind remains one of our finest batsmen especially at the Test level and he still has a lot to give to Pakistan cricket," Ijaz maintained.

On the speculation over whether some players had conspired against Khan, Ijaz said the reports might be true but Khan opted out of the NZ tour because he wanted a break from international cricket for the time being. (ANI)
