PCB set to use video technology for domestic matches

Karachi, Jan 30 (PTI) The Pakistan Cricket Board plans tointroduce a system of video recording its domestic matches twocameras from the next domestic season to deal with the growingproblem of players indiscipline and sub-standard umpiring.

Sultan Rana, the head of the board''s domestic cricketdivision said that they were plans to install two videocameras and have a analyst operate them at every centre wherefirst class and national one-day cup matches were played fromnext season.

"It is true we have got a lot of reports from the umpiresand team captains blaming each other with match referees alsopointing towards indiscipline by players and unsatisfactoryumpiring this season in domestic matches," Rana said.

He said since domestic matches were not televised liveregularly by television channels the board felt the solutionwas to record these matches themselves.

"We have formed a three member committee headed byPakistan team manager and former captain, Intikhab Alam toalready study the available footage of some domestic matchesthat were filmed with one camera this season.

"But from next season to make the system more effectivewe plan to have two cameras at each venue," he added.
