Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars Weather Update: The 17th match of the PSL 2024 on Saturday (March 2) at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi was delayed due to wet outfield due and was eventually called off due to rain.
The bad weather effectively delayed the toss scheduled at 1:30 PM local time in the afternoon match, scheduled at 2 PM PKT. While the rain stopped before the scheduled time for the toss but the umpires were unhappy with the wet outfield.
While the super sopper was out on the field to dry up the wet outfield right after, the umpires set the next inspection of the ground at 2:30 PM PKT while thick cloud cover remained over the venue.
There was brief hope of the match to begin with lesser number of overs in play as the ground was all dried up while both the teams showed up the venue with the two captains Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi showing up at the ground to take a look around.
However, soon after the thick cloud was out again and incessant rain started again, water-logging the outfield in the next 45 minutes. The match was called off at 4:00 PM local time as the rain persisted. Both the sides were forced to share a point each, dampening the glim hopes of defending champions Lahore Qalandars to qualify for the play-offs.
Lahore Qalandars are yet to secure a point and are having a season to forget. On the other hand, Peshawar, under Babar's leadership, is becoming more assured with every match.
While the opposing side plays to guarantee a spot in the playoffs, the first team plays for pride. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will host the 17th meeting between the Lahore Qalandars and the Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday, March 2.

Shaheen's Lahore Qalandars are about to be eliminated from the competition. They can only get eight points if they win their final four games, therefore their destiny is no longer in their hands. However, having won three straight games, Babar and the team are bursting with confidence.
The top scorers and most reliable players for Lahore are Rassie van der Dussen (300 runs in 6 games) and Sahibzada Farhan (239 runs in 6 games). One of the top wicket-takers is Shaheen Afridi, who has taken nine wickets in six games. For the Lahore team, these players can be extremely important.
