In a clash of the heavyweights table-toppers Multan Sultans are facing off against fourth-placed Peshawar Zalmi at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Tuesday (March 5)
Multan Sultans have won six of their seven matches this season while Peshawar Zalmi just dropped to fourth from third after losing to another play-off rival Islamabad United at this very venue.
With play-off spot confirmed, Multan Sultans will now play for one of the top two slots, giving them two chances to advance to the championship game. Peshawar must, however, play the remaining games as elimination matches in order to place in the top four of the playoffs. Given that they are the only team to have defeated Multan, Peshawar will be confident in their prospects of winning on Tuesday night.
With 330 runs in 5 games, Babar Azam leads all scorers with an elite score of 111 off 63 balls. He also acts as a sheet anchor. Against Islamabad, Aamer Jamal struck an incredible 87 off 49 balls in a losing cause. Later in the order, Rovman Powell has been outstanding with his quick-hitting cameos.
With eight wickets in three games, Arif Yaqoob leads Peshawar in wicket-taking. Since he took most of his wickets in death overs, the leg-spinner possesses a special ability to bowl in certain situations. Luke Wood has persisted in taking at least one wicket in each game as per his routine. In this game, he hopes to keep that record intact.
Saim Ayub has been an essential bowler in the powerplay even if he hasn't been very reliable with the bat. Mohammad Rizwan (245 runs) and Reeza Hendricks (299 runs) are Multan's top scorers. Currently ranked No. 3 and No. 4 on the top five hitters list, they have been the cornerstone of the Sultans hitting lineup.
