Macksville (Australia), Dec 3: Thousands of mourners today bid a tearful farewell to late Australian cricketer Phil Hughes at the funeral service held at the Macksville Recreation Centre here.

Australia captain Michael Clarke, his Test team-mates, several cricket greats including Shane Warne, Brian Lara, Glenn McGrath, Adam Gilchrist and others paid their respects to Hughes in his home town of Macksville, on the northern coast of New South Wales (NSW) state (575 kms north of Sydney).

India was represented by Virat Kohli, team director Ravi Shastri and manager Arshad Ayub. Coach Duncan Fletcher was present. (Cricketers who died due to on-field injuries)

Huges died on November 27 after being struck by a cricket ball during a Sheffield Shield match at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The funeral service was televised live across Australia and also live streamed.
