England captain Ben Stokes overtook former New Zealand batter Brendon McCullum as the leading six-hitter in Test cricket.
It happened during the first Test match between New Zealand and England and Stokes now leads the chart with the most number of sixes in the longer format of the game.
Stokes now has 109 sixes in Test cricket, while McCullum hit 107 sixes in his career. McCullum, who interestingly is the current England head coach, has been an aggressive batter during his days and was seen applauding Stokes after the latter overtook his record.
Stokes, McCullum and former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist are the only three players in Test cricket history to have 100 or more sixes. The former Australian was the first player in history to reach 100 Test sixes.
Former India opener Virender Sehwag is the only Indian player who features in the top ten six-hitters chart when it comes to Test cricket.
Sehwag hit 91 sixes in 104 Test matches in his career and sits 6th on the list. MS Dhoni (78) and Sachin Tendulkar (69) are the players who follow Sehwag in the six-hitting chart for India.
