All-rounder Shardul Thakur is an Indian cricketer was orn on 16 October 1991. The Mumbai cricketer has a frame of 5 feet inches and has a body weight of approximately 66 kg. He was once criticised for his poor shape and was deemed too fat to play for India as he weighed around 85 kg. Thakur listened to the suggestion of batting great Sachin Tendulkar, who urged him to get rid of his excess body weight. Thakur who is also known as Palgarh Express as he hails from Palgarh (Maharastra) - did well to get in shape and forge a career for himself at the highest level. Training under the guidance of one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time Glenn McGrath helped him take his game to the next level. After impressing with his domestic performance, Thakur got an India call-up for West Indies tour in 2016 but injury ruled him out and he subsequently went down in the pecking order. However, he continued to hustle in domestic circuit and was rewarded with an India call-up for the home home series against West Indies in 2018. In his second Test at Brisbane in during the 2020-21 tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Shardul proved his credentials and scored a quickfire 67 as India defeated Australia at their fortress Gabba and created history. In his second Test match on English soil in 2021, Thakur slammed fifties in both the innings as India won that game.  He has proven his mettle with the bat and can be quite useful with the bat if and when needed. He has a wide array of shots and can be a useful asset down the batting order. Thakur is an equally aggressive right-arm pacer who usually bowls at more than 140 km/h and has clocked the highest speed of 148 km/h. He is known for his pace, variations and swingers.
