New Delhi, Jan 24: The six Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) terrorists, who were awarded life sentences for plotting to kidnap cricket stars Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar can now sigh a breathe of relief as their life sentence has been shortened to 8 years jail term.
The sentence was shortned by the High Court after the militants pleaded and confessed to the crime.
The verdict came after the three Pakistani's and their three Indian counterparts appealed after they were convicted under the POTA, the IPC and the Arms Act.
Apart from plotting to kidnap the cricketers, the militants also planned to assasinate the then President APJ Abdul Kalam, when he served as a scientist at the BARC in order to release two Pakistani lodged in Indian jails.
