Karachi, Aug 29: The Scotland Yard police officials questioned Pakistan cricket team manager and several players in connection with match fixing allegations during the Lord's Test.

On Saturday, Aug 28, the News of the World tabloid splashed details of a sting operation it conducted on a London-based individual, Mazhar Majeed. Later the Scotland Yard police arrested 35 year old Mazhar Majeed for offering bribes to some Pakistani players for spot fixing during the Test match.

Police officials reported that they had met Pakistan team in the team hotel and recorded statements from captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aamir and Kamran Akmal. They also questioned Pakistan cricket team manager Yawar Saeed.

"Police teams have spoken to me and I have tried to answer their queries. We will cooperate all the way with them in these investigations," Yawar said.

On Sunday, Aug 29, International Cricket Council (ICC) also announced an investigation on the issue and told that no player has been arrested.

"No players nor team officials have been arrested in relation to this incident. Test match will continue as scheduled on Sunday, Aug 29," said ICC in a statement.

However, England was closing in on a big victory in the fourth test at the close of the third day after Pakistan were bowled out for 74, made to follow-on and reached 41-4 in their second innings.
