Police to take stringent action against cricket betting

Bangalore, Feb 24 (PTI) Police today warned thatstringent action awaited those who indulge in betting on WorldCup cricket matches and urged people to provide information onsuch activities.

City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari issuedinstructions to all police stations in the city to keep avigil on betting and collect information on such activities.

In a statement, he asked the general public who maycome across information on cricket betting by any individual,company or firm, to furnish information to the local policestation or the city police control room.

People who give information leading to successful raidsand detection of cricket betting cases would be suitablyrewarded, the release said.
