By Staff

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) Former South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock has been appointed as the newest member of the Marylebone Cricket Club's (MCC) World Cricket Committee.

According to a media release, Pollock, who is currently captaining the Mumbai Indians in the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) has accepted the invitation from MCC World Cricket Committee Chairman Tony Lewis.

MCC Secretary and Chief Executive, Keith Bradshaw, and MCC Head of Cricket, John Stephenson, visited India along with Lewis recently and talked to Pollock and Bangalore Royal Challengers' captain Rahul Dravid, and Chief Cricket Officer of the Bangalore franchise outfit Martin Crowe, the release said.

The world cricket committee will meet at Lord's on May 12 and 13 to discuss wide-ranging issues, including the effects that worldwide Twenty20 leagues might have on the format of international cricket, a consideration of players conduct and a look at technology and the proposed Umpire Decision Review System.

However, Pollock, Dravid, and Crowe would be absent from the meeting due to their involvement in the IPL, but have had prior consultation with Lewis, the release added.
