Ponting says Symonds could make Ashes squad

Sydney, May 19 (ANI): Australian captain Ricky Ponting says he wouldn't be surprised if Andrew Symonds is named in the Ashes squad tomorrow.

Ponting said he expected a 16-man touring party to be named for the Ashes with the first Test starting on July 8 in Cardiff.

"I wouldn't be surprised, he has had his share of battles over the last 12 months, obviously the well documented stuff off the field," Ponting said.

"He's worked his way back into domestic cricket and played well for us over in Abu Dhabi, Dubai. He's a great guy to have around a team, there is no doubt about that and obviously the selectors are going to have some tough decisions to make in the coming hours I guess," he added. (ANI)
