PPL will provide a huge boost Pakistan cricket: Akmal

Lahore, Jun 18 (UNI) Expressing his admiration for the IPL, wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal said a Pakistan version of the hugely successful Indian Twenty20 league will help upcoming cricketers in the country.

''I have learned a lot from IPL and I have observed that it helped young cricketers of India a lot. We should have our own league because it is going to benefit our youngsters,'' Kamran told PPI. ''I enjoyed IPL a lot and it would be a great thing to have a premier league in our own country.'' ''Pakistani cricketers are talented and they will get a platform and financial support through PPL,'' he added.

''It would be a huge step towards the promotion of cricket in the country.'' The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to launch the Pakistan Premier League (PPL) in the first half of 2009.
