By MyKhel Staff

Prakhar Charturvedi on Monday (January 15) broke the record for highest individual score in Cooch Behar Trophy final by scoring the first-ever quadruple century during the 2024 final between Karnataka and Mumbai in Shimoga.

His unbeaten knock of 404 helped Karnataka take a massive first innings lead to win the final as they responded to Mumbai's 380 All Out with 890/8. Apart from Prakhar, Harshil Dharmani, the number 3 batter, also contributed with 169.

The Karnataka opener's record-breaking knock also saw him surpass Yuvraj Singh's 24-year-old record of 358, the previous highest individual score in the tournament final. Chaturvedi, who faced 638 balls during the knock, hit 46 fours and three sixes.

The knock of 404 also puts him second on the list of highest individual scores in the tournament, after Vijay Zol's 451 not out for Maharashtra against Assam in the 2011-12 season.

Following his record-breaking innings, Chaturvedi told CricketNext in an exclusive chat that he feels great to be able perform in a final and "scoring 404 is a proud moment" for him.

"It feels really great that I have been able to perform in this kind of a match. It was a big game for us and everyone had come to watch it. Scoring 404 is a very proud moment for me," Prakhar was quoted as saying to CricketNext.

The Karnataka U19 also featured Samit Dravid, son of former Indian captain Rahul Dravid. Samit, an all-rounder, took two wickets with the ball and scored 22 with the bat in the final. Samit is a good friend of Chaturvedi, who used to play with the all-rounder since the under-12 days.
