Preview 2nd Test: England start favourites against West Indies

Ben Stokes (right) and James Anderson will be key for England against WI in the second Test

London, August 24: Ahead of the second Test against the West Indies at Headingley, England skipper Joe Root said on Thursday (August 24) that all-rounder Chris Woakes will return to the side.

Woakes, who sustained a side strain on June 1, has been recalled in place of pacer Toby Roland-Jones.

Woakes took five wickets and scored 53 in his first game post return for Warwickshire earlier this month.

England are leading the three-match series 1-0 after a crushing victory in a day-night Test at Edgbaston last week.

Incidentally, Root is leading England for the first time in his home venue - Headingley at Yorkshire.

Team: England: Joe Root (Capt), Alastair Cook, Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonathan Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Mark Stoneman, Tom Westley, Chris Woakes.

West Indies: Jason Holder (Capt), Kraigg Brathwaite, Kieran Powell, Kyle Hope, Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Jermaine Blackwood, Shane Dowrich (wk), Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel, Devendra Bishoo.
