Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett has been ruled out of the remainder of the first Test against South Africa in Bulawayo after sustaining a mild concussion. The incident occurred on Sunday (June 29), when Bennett was struck on the helmet by a sharp bouncer from South African pacer Kwena Maphaka in the sixth over of Zimbabwe's innings.
Attempting a pull shot, Bennett failed to connect and took the blow while on 19 off 25 deliveries. Although he initially passed an on-field concussion assessment conducted by the physio and continued his innings, he walked off after facing just three balls from Codi Yusuf in the following over.

Later, Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that the 20-year-old suffered a mild concussion and would play no further part in the match.
"Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett will play no further part in the ongoing Test match against South Africa at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo after being diagnosed with a mild concussion," the official statement read.
The concussion substitute rule requires the injury to occur on the field during play, with a formal diagnosis by the team's medical representative. A Concussion Replacement Request must be submitted to the ICC Match Referee, specifying the incident, medical findings, and the proposed like-for-like replacement. Following the protocols, Prince Masvaure has been named as the replacement.
Prince Masvaure is a 36-year-old cricketer who has played Tests and ODIs for Zimbabwe. Born on October 7, 1988, Masvaure has played 10 Tests and 2 ODIs. He has scored 439 runs in Red ball cricket, with an average of 25.82, and has 4 fifties to his name. Masvaure scored 7 runs in the first innings after coming in as substitute.
Prince Masvaure becomes only the 6th cricketer in history to be roped in as a concussion substitute.
