Prithvi Shaw was dropped from the Delhi Capitals playing eleven against Mumbai Indians in Match 43 of the IPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 27.
The 24-year-old was replaced with wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra. The right-hander was dismissed for 11, 16 and seven in his last three outings. Abhishek Porel walked out to open with Jake Fraser-McGurk the absence of Prithvi Shaw.

Prithvi Shaw kicked off his IPL 2024 campaign with 43 runs against Chennai Super Kings. Notably, Shaw was not included in the DC playing eleven for their first two matches. He scored 61 against Mumbai Indians (MI), and 32 versus Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In total, he has scored 185 runs in seven IPL 2024 matches at an average of 26.42, and a strike rate of 162.28.
Talking about the match, Delhi Capitals won the match by 10 runs. The opening stand between Jake Fraser McGurk (84 off 27), and Abishek Porel (36 off 27) accounted for 114 runs in just 46 balls. Delhi Capitals posted 257/4, after handy contributions from Shai Hope (41 off 17), and Tristan Stubbs (48* off 25).
In reply, Mumbai Indians gave it their but fell 10 runs short of the target. Tilak Varma top-scored for the side with 63 off 32, and there were also notable contributions from Hardik Pandya (46 off 24), and Tim David (37 off 17). Delhi pacers Mukesh Kumar and Rasikh Dar Salam picked three wickets apiece.
