'Prithvi Shaw as good as I've seen in 25 years': Northamptonshire coach has 'perfect' word to describe batter

India star Prithvi Shaw has been making all the good headlines after his arrival in England for One-Day Cup 2023. Playing for Northamptonshire, the 23-year-old first slammed 244 runs off 153 balls against Somerset before following it up with another hundred against Durham.

The right-hander's 125 off 76 on Sunday helped Northamptonshire beat Durham by six wickets and 146 balls remaining. Shaw is the highest run-scorer in the tournament as of now. He has scored 429 runs in four innings at an average of 143.00. Cheteshwar Pujara is second, with 100 runs behind him.

Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler has heaped rich praises on Shaw and said that the Mumbai batter was as good as the best batters he has seen in his 25 years in the sport of cricket. Humble, gracious and respectful are the adjectives he has used for him.

"Humble is the perfect word to describe Prithvi Shaw. He's gracious and respectful, he's loved being a part of the team. We're loving having him here as well," John Sadler said after Northamptonshire defeated Glamorgan by 6 wickets.

"His skill speaks for itself, he's a superstar. He's as good as I've seen in 25 years of playing this game. He's up there with the best in terms of ball striking. He genuinely wants to win games of cricket and has been a star in the dressing room," Sadler added.

Shaw is looking to resurrect his India career, having last played an international match in 2021. The likes of Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have gone ahead of him in the pecking order.
