Prithvi Shaw has suffered an injury setback during his recent stint with Northamptonshire in county cricket. The India batter was in red hot form but now will have to sit out for a significant period of time on the sidelines.
Shaw damaged his knee recently and his latest scans have shown that the player has damaged his Posterior Cruciate Ligament. The positive thing is that it is a Grade 2 injury which means Shaw won't require surgery.

"The result of the scans has revealed that it's a Grade 2 PCL injury. Grade 2 is not that encouraging but still better than Grade 3. Things were initially not looking good for Prithvi but Grade 2 injury and no need of surgery means he should be back on the field soon," a source close to the player was quoted as saying by News18.
Shaw is currently undergoing treatment in the UK and will be staying there for some time. The player is under the watch of BCCI but will be spending a couple of weeks in the UK.
The severity of his PCL injury means the 23-year-old will be out of action for at least a couple of months. The Mumbai batter will thus miss the upcoming domestic T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is a major blow for both him and his team. The player is expected to make a comeback for the Vijay Hazare Trophy but that can also be hindered if the rehabilitation period extends.
Prithvi was in excellent form for Northamptonshire and even scored a fantastic double hundred in a 50-over match. Their coach John Sadler expressed his sadness about Prithvi's injury and praised the player for his hunger.
"In his short stint Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It's a huge shame he won't be with us for the remainder of this competition. He's an extremely humble young man, he's very respectful and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire," he said.
