Prithvi Shaw made headlines on Wednesday after smashing a double hundred for Northamptonshire in the domestic One-Day Cup going on in England. The 23-year-old brought up his double hundred off 129 balls and finished at 244 off 153 balls to register the sixth highest score in List A cricket.
Post the innings, the Mumbai batter said he wasn't really thinking about the impact made by the knock on the Indian cricket team selectors. Shaw, who last played for India in 2021, hasn't been named in the second-string Indian T20I squad for the Ireland series. He did not find a place in Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Indian contingent for the Asian Games as well.

"Definitely experience for sure. Not really thinking what the Indian selectors may be thinking, but I just want to have a good time here, have a good time with the players over here and the support staff. Northamptonshire have given me this opportunity... they're really looking after me. I'm really enjoying it," Shaw was quoted as saying.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) batter said that with the sun shining bright the batting conditions were good, adding that playing for his team more than playing for himself is his main priority.
"The sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today so it was really looking good. You know when an inside edge doesn't get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn't look back after that,” Shaw said.
"The 227 was in my head to be honest. I spoke to Whitey [Whiteman] when he was there and I told him it's 227, my highest score. But it was a good team effort all around. I always try and win matches for the team and I'm the kind of a player who puts my team first and then myself. If scoring like this can help my team to win, then I should continue this," he added.
Northamptonshire posted 415/8 in 50 overs courtesy the whirlwind knock from Shaw and won the match by 87 runs. The side will next be in action on Sunday, August 13 against Durham.
