Prithvi Shaw Opens Up on India Comeback Goal, Says He No Longer Likes Going Out
Prithvi Shaw is determined to rebuild his cricketing career, with a return to the Indian national team remaining his biggest ambition. The 26-year-old batter has adopted a more focused lifestyle, prioritising cricket, family and personal improvement while distancing himself from unnecessary distractions.
Shaw revealed that he has reduced his social media activity and prefers to concentrate on his game rather than the attention surrounding his personal life.

"I am working harder than ever before. Obviously, I am not quite on social media right now. I am just working on myself. Just me, my cricket and my family. Those are the only three things I am focusing on right now. Anything else, I am just trying to ignore or keep aside," Shaw said India Today.

The Mumbai-born cricketer also spoke about his discomfort with paparazzi and cameras following him during his private moments. Shaw clarified that his decision to limit public outings was not driven by frustration with fame but by his preference for personal space.
"No, no, it is not about that. It is about a lot of these papparazzi people and all. And I just do not like going out anymore.
"I have my personal space, and obviously, you guys know how I am and what I like personally. It is good for other people; someone likes it, someone does not. I do not like cameras around me when I am living my personal life somewhere," he added.
Shaw burst onto the national scene after captaining India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2018. He subsequently made a spectacular start to his Test career, scoring a century on debut against the West Indies. However, injuries, inconsistent performances and questions surrounding his discipline interrupted his progress.
He has represented India in five Tests, six ODIs and one T20I, with his last international appearance coming against Sri Lanka in July 2021.
India Return Remains Shaw's Biggest Motivation
Shaw's career faced further setbacks when Mumbai dropped him from their Ranji Trophy squad in 2024 and he went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, his performances in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season offered encouragement, as he scored 537 runs in seven matches, including a blistering 222 against Chandigarh. Delhi Capitals subsequently brought him back for IPL 2026, although he did not feature in a match.
Reflecting on criticism and past disappointments, Shaw said, "I feel that comments from outside do not really matter to me. What matters is what my family thinks about me and how I am as a person. I know myself and what are the right things to do to achieve a milestone."
