Privilege committee accepts motion against PCB chairman
Lahore, June 13 (UNI) The tussle between Dr Nasim Ashraf and senator Enver Baig reached a crescendo with the privilege committee of the Senate accepting the motion moved against the PCB chairman.
Privilege committee, headed by Tahir Mashadi, will summon the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief to appear in the next 14 days to reply to the charges levelled against him.
In his appeal Baig, a member of the Senate's Standing Committee on Sports, accused the PCB chairman of disgracing him at a press conference by saying that he (the Senator) was a person with a ''sick mind''.
''This shows the incompetence of the board's chairman and the PCB, and I understand he has also used foul language in the press conference about me which could not be published in the print media,'' Baig was quoted by 'Dawn'.
Both Baig and Ashraf are crossing swords on a series of thorny issues ranging from the delay in implementation of a new PCB constitution to the hiring and firing process in the Board.
''The behaviour of the chairman PCB has breached the privilege of a member of the Parliament and member of the Standing Committee on Sports which is highly objectionable is required to be referred to the privilege committee for taking necessary action in this regard,'' the senator stated in his appeal to the committee.
