The Pakistan Super Leagu (PSL) 2023 Playoffs is scheduled to take place next week at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore after the league stage action ends on March 12.
Like always, the top four progressed to the playoffs and will play their respective fixtures based on where they finish in the PSL 2023 points table. Four matches will be played in the playoff stages - Qualifier, Eliminator 1, Eliminator 2 and then the all important final.
The first and second placed teams will play the Qualifier which gives them a second shot at making the final even if they lose as they will play the winner of the Eliminator 1 in Eliminator 2. The Eliminator 1 will see the third place team face the fourth placed team.
The PSL 2023 was a 6-team tournament in which each team played the remaining five teams in double round-robin matches to decide who progress to the playoff stages.
A team played a total of ten matches in the league stage with the Net Run Rate (NRR) also playing a crucial role in deciding the final four teams as some teams finished level on points.
Lahore Qalandars (14 points from 10 matches), Islamabad United (12 points from 10 matches) and Multan Sultans (12 points from 10 matches) have qualified for the playoffs.
Lahore Qalandars finished on top, while Multan Sultans finished second ahead of Islamabad United, to earn a directy entry into the Qualifier. Peshawar Zalmi (10 points from 10 matches) finished in fourth place after victory in their final league stage match.
Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators (6 points from 10 matches) and Karachi Kings (6 points from 10 matches) missed out on reaching the playoffs in PSL 2023.
In the Qualifier, Multan Sultans sealed a thumping win over table toppers Lahore Qalandars to book their spot in the PSL 2023 final.
It was not the end of the road for Qalandars though as they had another chance to reach the final via the second eliminator. Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi, who defeated Islamabad United in the first eliminator.
