Player Of The Match: Imad Wasim (IU) 3/12 spell
Moment of the match: Martin Guptill (IU) for scoring half century on debut

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Islamabad United posted a 174/9 in 20 overs after Martin Guptill half century on debut provided a good start. However, some good bowling spell by Mohammad Amir (2/20) and Akeal Hosein (2/34) stopped the side from post 200-plus.

That didn't worry the Islamabad bowlers, who dismissed half of the Quetta side for just 23 runs. Imad Wasim's 3/12 did all the damange in powerplay and so did Naseem Shah's 2/33. Omair Yousuf then scored a 37-ball 50 down the order to delay Islamabad's eventual win.

Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators , PSL 2024 Eliminator 1: Who Said What

Shadab Khan: "We lost some momentum in the end with the bat. We haven't played the perfect game yet, but we are still in the second eliminator. This looked like a slow pitch in the second half, that's why we wanted to bat first. I think it is good because we have the winning momentum that we will take into the last couple of games.

"I think we start well, but aren't capitalising. That's something we can correct. Today, we bowled really well in the powerplay, but then in the middle overs there weren't enough wickets. We have to play the perfect game in the last couple of matches."

Imad Wasim | Player of the Match: "We saw that the pitch was spinning and holding a bit, so I was keeping it slow and it was gripping a bit. The slower ball was the weapon, not the arm ball. I wanted to mix it up. We restricted them and also took wickets, and if you do one of the two things in the powerplay, you are always in the game in T20s

Naseem Shah: "This was an important game, a knockout game. Leading the bowling attack gets some pressure, but it is something I am enjoying. I wanted to bowl aggressively, because Roy is a player who once set, can score freely. Credit goes to all our bowlers for the performance today. Shadab as a leader has been really calm and relaxed, just tells the bowlers to keep focusing on the next ball. Gives a lot of confidence to the rest of the team."

Rilee Rossouw: "Would have loved to score more runs, wasn't to be tonight. Hopefully, we can do better next year. It is an honour to lead this great franchise, we can take a lot of positives. We had a lot of youngsters come through, and to qualify after 4 years means this is a sign of us moving in the right direction.

"The whole bowling department put up their hand this season. The spin kings were fantastic, and even Amir has put up his hand, even on surfaces that weren't suiting him. A big shout out to the fans for supporting us, hopefully next year things can be a lot different."
