PSL 2024: Lahore Qalandars Season Preview, Match Fixtures, Squad, Best Playing 11

PSL 2024 is all set to get underway with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars looking to retain their title for the second consecutive season as the ninth edition of the T20 franchise tournament gets underway on February 17.

The success over the last two seasons was built around the consistent shows of the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Rashid Khan among others. The Afghan, unfortunately, won't be playing any role in PSL 2024 as he continues to recover from his injury.

Among the latest inclusions in the PSL 2024 draft late last year, South African batter Rassie van der Dussen, pacer Mohammad Imran Junior and English all-rounder Dan Lawrence strengthened the squad. Sri Lanka's Bhanuka Rajapaksha was later added to the squad as well.

There's no dearth of pace talent at Lahore Qalandars but the team management felt like adding more strength. Skipper Shaheen Afridi will welcome the inclusion of Imran Jr in the pace line-up with Haris Rauf while Zaman Khan, Tayyab Abbas and youngster Jahandad Khan are expected to be the understudies.

However, the spin bowling department looks devoided of big names in absence of Rashid Khan. Spin sensation Syed Faridoun is seen as a prospect but will have to hit the ground rolling after his short stint at Melbourne Stars. Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza will be expected to chip in too.

As far as batting is concerned, Lahore Qalanadars looks sorted with Fakhar Zaman leading the line-up with Abdullah Shafique, Van der Dussen, Shahibzada Farhan, Dan Lawrence (partially available) are expected to play their roles in the middle-order. For the heavy lifting in the slog overs, Qalandars will once again rely on their two African cricketers Raza and David Wiese.
