PSL 2024 Match Result: Islamabad United qualified for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 playoffs after beating Multan Sultans by three wickets at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Sunday evening (March 10).
Islamabad United chased down 229 off the last ball and through to the playoffs in a thrilling encounter at Rawalpindi. Usman Khan's century went in vain as he ended up on the losing side. It was Islamabad's highest successful run chase in the PSL. Munro scored a blistering 84 off 40 balls despite pulling his hamstring early in the innings and became the Player of the Match. While skipper Shadab Khan made 54 off 31 balls.

However, the tide turned again as Abbas Afridi bowled superbly in the middle overs by picking up 3/40. Mohammad Ali took 2/44. In the end, Islamabad needed 38 off the last three overs. Hence, Imad Wasim's quickfire cameo of 30 off 13 balls got Islamabad over the line.
Islamabad United won the toss and opted to field as they asked Multan Sultans to set the target. Yasir Khan got them off to a flyer with a flurry of boundaries but got out by Hunain Shah and Faheem managed to nip out Rizwan off the final ball of the sixth over. Multan accumulated 58-2 after the powerplay. Then Usman Khan got together with Johnson Charles and the duo went after the Islamabad bowlers without wasting time. They stitched a half-century partnership at a rate of knots.
Charles, playing his first game, fell to Faheem at 42 and it was all Usman Khan after that. He played an inning full of attractive shots as he brought up his back-to-back century. Islamabad were poor with the ball and worst on the field as they dropped three catches. Faheem was the highest wicket-taker with 2/32 for Islamabad. Usman's 50-ball hundred helped Multan score 228-4 (20 overs).
Nonetheless, Islamabad began the chase on the wrong foot as they lost Hales and Salman in the first two overs. But then Colin Munro and Shadab Khan formed a sensational partnership as the two of them put on 141 off just 64 balls for the third wicket. Nevertheless, Afridi and Ali bowled superbly and got the ball to reverse. But it was the sheer brilliance of Faheem and Wasim in the final overs that brought the game home for Islamabad.
