PSL 2024 Match Result: Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by 76 runs to become the second team after Multan Sultans to qualify for the PSL 2024 2024 playoffs. The Babar Azam-led side jumped to the second spot in the six-team table after the big win at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday (March 08).
Quetta Gladiators must be disappointed as they too had a chance to book a place in the playoffs. Gladiators were 56-2 after the powerplay and got bowled out for 120 with 13 balls to spare.

Saim Ayub bagged the Player of the Match for his all-around performance, scoring 30 off 12 balls and picking up 2/20. Shakeel (24 runs off 12 balls) looked dangerous but fell to Mehran (2/22) and then the wickets just kept tumbling.
Every bowler from Peshawar's bowling department was among the wickets. Luke Wood, Khurram Shahzad, Mehran Mumtaz, and Saim Ayub picked up two-fers. The top order of Quetta failed again to deliver as Jason Roy never looked comfortable. Rilee Rossouw's bat remained quiet and Khawaja Nafay got out to Saim. The only silver lining for Quetta was the performance of Akeal Hosein (4/23), who registered the first hat trick of the season.
Quetta Gladiators won the toss and invited Babar and company to bat on a belter. Ayub and Babar (53 off 30 balls) got them off to an absolute flier as they accumulated 70-1 after the powerplay. After 12 overs, with 135 on the board and seven wickets in hand, even 220-plus was on the cards.
However, Quetta fought back with the help of a hat-trick from Hosein as Zalmi collapsed to 157/8. Despite this brief collapse, Rovman Powell did well to lift them close to 200 from where they were after the hat-trick. As Babar and the company managed to put up 196-8 (20 overs)
On the other hand, Quetta would be disappointed after dropping to fourth spot in the points table. While they still have a chance to qualify, but they have puth themselves in a tough spot. They were 46 for none and got bowled out for 120 as Zalmi's bowlers trampled over Quetta's batting lineup. Quetta face Lahore in their second-last league stage match on Sunday.
