Peshawar Zalmi vs Islamabad United, PSL 2024: Who Said What
Babar Azam | Peshawar captain and POTM: She came for the first time (talking about his mom). Very happy. She always watches from home. Good luck for me that she came and I scored hundred. This is my best one. Saim and I realised pitch was good, so we looked for 200. But then we lost 3 wickets.
"Paul (Walter) has a bit of a hamstring problem, so was off the field. Azam got out, so I just took a chance with Yaqoob. All credit to him, didn't panic, believed in his bowling. Weren't up to the mark in first two matches. Hope to carry the momentum now."
Shadab Khan | Islamabad captain: "Had we played a bit of smart cricket the result would have been different. We should have played smart cricket in the second-last over. This is the beauty of cricket - the way Azam and Munro played we looked like winning. Once you get there you should finish the innings. When we lose, there are a lot of things to work on, we gave a lot of runs in the powerplay and in the death overs.
"T20 cricket is about momentum, if we get it then we can do well. Before the draft, we had told the players about their roles. Haider's role is of a finisher, I also came at one-down in the first match and today and hopefully Haider will do well in the coming days. Bowling is going well, rhythm is good and I will try and get better in the coming games."
Arif Yaqoob: "Babar bhai gave me confidence. I tried to land it on a spot and tried not to get hit. I knew they would go after me, so I tried to keep the ball away from them and that worked. I played the National T20 and I got a lot of confidence. Here it's different because there's a lot of crowd but the prayers of my parents helped. I liked Asad Shafiq a lot as a player. I watched Shane Warne, Danish Kaneria a lot. The flipper is the one I like."
