Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators will see a new dawn with a change of the guard. South Africa international batter Rilee Rossouw will take over the captaincy duties from veteran player Sarfaraz Ahmed in the new edition of PSL 2024.
The Gladiators will look for a flip in their fortunes, having failed to qualify for the playoffs for the last four seasons, not once after the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side lifted the cup in the fourth season. This was one of the facets of appointing a new captain.

Rossouw pipped Karachi-born Saud Shakeel to lead the Quetta Gladiators, a decision perhaps inspired by newly-appointed coach and former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson. The South African has scored the most runs by an overseas player in the league history - 1867 runs at 146.54.
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan, who assumed the duties of head coach until last season, has been promoted to Team Director.
England international Jason Roy, Somerset top order batter Will Smeed, Pakistan youngster Omair Yousuf along with Shakeel, Sarfaraz, and Rossouw will form the cream of Quetta Gladiators’ batting unit. West Indies player Sherfane Rutherford is the only all-rounder in the squad.
Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Wasim Jr are the frontline pacers for the side, and Sohail Khan brings a depth of experience. Mohammad Hasnain can’t be overlooked for his raw pace. The spin department includes Usman Qadir, Abrar Ahmed, and Akeal Hosein with the 22-year-old Khawaja Nafay being the backup option.
